Foto Pracownia Wschodnia invites you to a photography exhibition by students of the Academy of Photography entitled "Empiria Osmosis Notatki?" [Empiria Osmosis Notes?]

The exhibition presents a selection of original darkroom prints made by students during the analogue photography workshops led by Federico Caponi at the Academy of Photography in Warsaw.

Alongside the prints, three publications issued by the Visual Arts Foundation will be available. Their titles, project descriptions and sequence were devised by the authors of the series themselves during and after the workshops. The curator is responsible for the digital editing and the introduction.

The publications were designed by Maria Bukowska of Studio Temperówka.

Taking pictures on film nowadays means having an idea for a project and thinking about its final result (in the form of prints) already while photographing.In this situation, more than the author's search for a "good shot", what counts is a strategy for telling a photographic story, devising sequences and focusing on details and precision. The limitations imposed by the length of the film, the lack of immediacy and the joy of producing pictures with one's own hands add value to photographing and automatically transform it into an activity – into an act of craft.

Learning analogue photography can be crucial for aspiring photographers; it is a deep immersion in all the technical aspects of the photographic craft, but also an inevitable step towards revealing the potential of visual communication.
