The proverb says that silence is golden. When you use too many words, in the end you say nothing.

Cisze [Silences] is a tribute I wanted to pay to one of the riches we possess but do not always reflect on: the mysterious charm of silence. Everything comes from silence: every flower, every decision, every surprise lurking around the corner. Even these photographs were born in the silence and darkness of my little darkroom, which I set up in the garden of my house.

The materials proposed for the exhibition belong to two seemingly distant thematic channels, linked – among other things – precisely by the element of silence: the whispered spell of the full moon and the unstoppable mystery of water.

Every photograph presented here is strictly analogue, obtained on film and printed by hand on baryta paper.

Stefano Cavallo - born in Italy in 1976, lives and works in Łódź with his wife Magda and their three children. He is a researcher at the University of Łódź. He is involved in literature and photography. He believes that art is a gift and, since „everything that is not given is lost”, he engages in photography so as to have something to give.
