The project "Grayscale" is an intimate and reflective story about Icelandic reality, shown through the eyes of an outsider. Dominik Stępniak, as a perceptive documentary photographer, analyses a space in which people function in shadow and greyness – without emotion, expressionless, stuck in the mechanical rhythm of work. The project focuses on Ásbrú and its residents, who often play a key role in the Icelandic tourism sector, filling staffing gaps in various industries.

The artist looks at this community as a group still waiting for its place, while at the same time being part of a system in which anyone may find themselves at the beginning or the end of the road.
