"PODŁOGA" [Floor] proposes thinking about the base of every space as a medium, a carrier of meanings, a map of practices and rituals, a plane of diverse movement. Scratches in the floor, like tiny scars on the skin of a place, are a record of time, touches, shifts. It is a living, reactive structure – speaking through patterns, rhythms, mirror symmetry, suggesting to feet a dance instead of walking. The floor becomes a boundary between what is visible and what is hidden. Between what is sensory and what is material. Between the body and the earth. Between what endures and what has been lost. That which slips downwards, that which falls, that which returns. The explicit rests upon the concealed.

The artists – Agnieszka Grodzińska, Piotr Kopik, Piotrek Kowalski, Natan Kryszk, Jakub Michalak, Zofia Mierzejewska and Weronika Wysocka – reinterpret the floor as a point of contact with everyday life, weight and history, with that upon which we settle ourselves. In dialogue with the architecture of the display, the creators turn their gaze towards what silently accompanies our experience of the world. Their works examine the form and memory of space, revealing what is covered, stored, what has settled in layers and crevices.

The exhibition fills the gallery interior, but also transforms it. The space is given rhythm through the arrangement of wooden modules and cylindrical display units. Pracownia Wschodnia becomes a board, a stage, a field of action.
The floor here is a place of treading, but also the surface of an event – a meeting point between movement and stillness, presence and the trace left behind. The exhibition opens a space of mindfulness, encouraging a look underfoot, contact with the matter and history that form the ground of perception. The floor ceases to be merely a background; it becomes an active participant in a story about time, movement and the topography of duration, recorded in the structure of wood, concrete or tiles.
