A knowledge base about what each of us should know, which for some reason remains a taboo subject.

Although we are becoming an open society, and a sexuality other than hetero ceases to surprise and shock, sex education in Poland leaves much to be desired. There is still a lack of widespread awareness that each of us can love whom they want and how they want, as well as identify in any way. It is also difficult to speak of widespread acceptance for what is different. This is a must-see for anyone who would like to expand their knowledge on gender and sex – which is nowadays essential to function consciously in society. Meg Krajewska, a non-binary person, addresses these difficult topics by developing a compendium of knowledge regarding human identity and sexuality. She supplemented it with interviews with transgender, asexual or genderfluid people, as well as her own observations and thoughts. The gem of the exhibition is a book, surrounded by screen printing artworks and analogue photographs depicting the protagonists of the project. At the exhibition you will be able to listen to audio with selected fragments of the interviews.

Excerpt from the book:

Usually, parents decide to find out the sex of the child as early as the third month of pregnancy, during an ultrasound scan. Already then, a vision begins to take shape in the parents' heads of who this person will be, what colour to paint the walls, what clothes this little human will wear, and what to name them. (…) Acting according to well-worn patterns assumes that if it is a daughter, she will help mum, and if a boy, he will probably one day take over the same duties as dad. Transgender identity is rather not taken into account, for one simple reason – because nothing is known about it. When after the test we find out that we will have a daughter or a son, no one makes us aware that these are merely speculations about sex, not the guaranteed gender of the child.
