This exhibition started with a message sent late at night.
Someone described a painting.

A rectangle.
A mountain running through the middle.
Don Quixote at the bottom.
Higher up, Sisyphus with his boulder.
Even higher, Icarus near the sun.
At the summit, Job and Abraham.

Sounded like a plan.
But in painting, plans rarely work out.

From that message came a conversation between two painters.
Two different paths of work.
Two mountains.

One grows out of impulse, relationship and gesture.
The second out of tension, memory and the need to find one's own sign.

Between them, a third mountain appears — the one that every viewer brings with them.
