If it weren't for the tail, it would look like a dog. A fox captured in a dynamic, nonchalant pose as it scratches its back with a leg is the axis of Ida Karkoszka's exhibition. The purpose of medieval bestiaries, illustrated para-scientific tales of real and fantastical animals, was above all moral. The beasts served to distinguish good and bad ways of behaving. The word bestiary lets us wander between the meanings of such notions as bestiality or brutalisation.

She is an engaged sculptor; she presents the bill for thoughtless evil and writes its history. Her sculptures step outside the comfort zone of the art field. The animal figures act strongly on the emotions and are enlisted by the artist in changing practices and habits. The exhibition evokes the formula of a seemingly safe natural history museum, in which beauty collides with horror.
