Pracownia Wschodnia is an independent artist collective. We run an artist-run space unique on Warsaw's art map, built on the grassroots initiative of artists working across the visual arts.

Our foundation is two strands of activity. The first is cultural animation: organising events for a wide audience, running a gallery and art courses, publishing. The second is building a workshop base that lets local artists develop their own creative practice.

Pracownia Wschodnia is a non-profit organisation. It would not exist without the commitment and ground-up work of the people who make up the collective. Each of us has our own practice, some of us teach at various universities or work for a range of institutions, but we believe that by joining forces we can achieve more together, both for local culture and in the field of art.

Antek Lisowski
Biography

Born in 1996. A graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He has spent most of his life in Warsaw, two years in Prague and a year in London. Since 2020 he has worked as an art educator at two Warsaw secondary schools.

In his work he focuses above all on painting and performance. The broadly sketched subject matter of his art revolves around three notions: Chance, the Joke and Adventure. When a situation calls for entering the social – and at the same time political – field, he adopts the strategy of becoming Zenon.

Zenon is a masked figure in work clothes who appears in places of high political tension. His job is to clear paths across the motorways of polarised conflict. Walking along the barrier outside the Sejm, he balances on the boundary between the political and the surreal. He is a glitch in the system, an error in a world built of hard bars.
